About

I am a proud veteran. I joined the military right out of high school. A year into my service I was sent to the Middle East. I was excited and mentally prepared for war, but there are some things that happen you can’t prepare for. I didn’t talk to anyone about what happened. I tried to not think about it, but this was all in vain. I now live with PTSD and I don’t regret my decision to join the military.

I deal with this everyday, in varying degrees. Sometimes smells can trigger unwanted memories. People in crowds can annoy the fuck out of me. There are times when I just start feeling annoyed, depressed, irritated, sad, scared, mad, my legs starts bouncing, and it just continues to spiral. Take a very deep breath. Good. Exhale slowly. That’s one exercise that I use to calm myself down. I usually have to do it a few times. Pat yourself on the back if you tried that exercise.

In this blog I’ll discuss PTSD, skills and treatments for PTSD, and share my personal experiences. All this I do because I sincerely hope to help anyone who is still experiencing PTSD. You are not alone!
